This current body of work is a series of one to one scale paintings of my mother's photobook.
Her photographs were taken when she was an adolescent, prior to her parents' divorce but the photobook itself was constructed after they had separated. The book exists as a pluralism, where the snapshots are from a time of happiness and the photobook from a time of sorrow (and possibly nostalgia or existential timing).

Schofield's first solo exhibition at Nicholas Metivier Gallery is based on an unrelated family's archive of photographs that was gifted to him. Schofield accurately renders every detail of the photographs - their edges, descriptive writing, tears and fading - in paint, appropriating these images and constructing a new narrative for the viewer." A series of paintings representing each side of photographic transparencies which were taken in the 1970's and 1980's by the artist's father. The selected images are moments of importance to the photographer. The photographer becomes the subject of the installation; the installation creates a portrait of the photographer through his decisions in absentia.

A series of 80 paintings examining three sets of snapshots from three photographers. These works were created for the group exhibition 'Painting Hamilton' for the Art Gallery of Hamilton. The exhibition conceived and curated by Melissa Bennett, features the artwork of Daniel Hutchinson, Christina Sealey, Lorne Toews, Manny Trin, Jennifer Carvalo and ....

A series of paintings examining the experimentation of the amateur by choosing to focus on the idiosyncrasies of the inexperienced documenter. Adaptation and motivation is the exploration through paint of representational photo imagery from three individuals' archives. These paintings are based on the photos and scrapbooks created by the family documenters: grandparents and parents.

Making the most of snap decisions is an exhibition of paintings created from the 4 x 6 inch photographs taken by the artist's younger self. The images are accidental compositions unwittingly created at various stages of the artist's life. .

Part Of   (almost) everything

(almost) everything is one continuous painting four inches in height that runs along the perimeter of the gallery. The painting line splits the gallery space into two parts slicing the white wall with a connected series of images of a single stream of thought. .
